This week in Year 5, we began by completing assessments in all the core subjects.
Within English, we began the new term by introducing sonnets. The children discovered that a sonnet consists of 14 lines, with 10 syllables per lines. Most sonnets contain either a problem and resolution or a question and answer - the majority of sonnets are based on love, jealousy, beauty and death. Within PE, we began a new scheme of work where the children will be participating and learning a range of skills in cricket. The first lesson began, with the children using an orange ball and then aiming it at the stumps from a range of distances, trying to run out the batsman. In science, the children have started to look at the topic, ‘Earth and space.’ They are very much looking forward to learning more about this exciting part of the curriculum. Comments are closed.
