At East Tilbury Primary School, we are committed to supporting the positive mental health and wellbeing of our whole school community (children, staff, parents and carers). We recognise that mental health and emotional wellbeing is just as important to our lives as physical health.
The Department for Education (DfE) recognises that: “In order to help their children succeed, schools have a role to play in supporting them to be resilient and mentally healthy….schools can be a place for children and young people to experience a nurturing and supportive environment that has the potential to develop self-esteem and give positive experience for overcoming adversity and building resilience”.
We endeavour to ensure that children are able to manage times of change and stress. We aim to ensure that they are supported to reach their potential or access help when they need it. We also have a role in ensuring that children learn what they can do to maintain positive mental health, what affects their mental health, how they can help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues and where they can go if they need help or support.
Just as peoples bodies can become unwell, people’s minds can become unwell too. Mental health problems are more common than you think - three children in every classroom have a mental health problem (Young Minds)
If you would like to discuss concerns about your child or difficulties that you may be facing, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the team below. We will always treat your information with the greatest confidentiality.
