Reception Blog

In Reception, we have continued to look at traditional tales. We came into school on Wednesday to discover a ‘crime scene’ in our classrooms! The evidence left behind included straw, sticks and bricks. Can you guess which traditional tale we focussed on this week? Yes, The Three Little Pigs! We looked at the materials used for building the pigs houses and discussed which other materials might be appropriate or not appropriate. We have also spent some time re-enacting the story with our friends in class.

In maths, we focussed on matching, rotating, and manipulating shapes and models. We are looking at matching different shapes, learning to rotate and manipulate them if they were in different positions and angles. This progress to replicating different models using multilink cubes. We challenged our friends to copy our block designs. You might see some of these on Tapestry.

Today, we learned about the coronation and participated in lots of different activities related to the coronation. We have made fingerprint Union Jack flags, designed more crowns, practised writing by creating a list of things we could spot in a coronation scene, and worked on our fine motor skills by collecting jewels with tweezers and placing them on a crown. and studied pictures of King Charles growing up overtime.
