What a week last week was! Monday saw East Tilbury take 35 pupils to sing at the 02 as part of the Young Voices choir. They made the school, teachers, parents and themselves very proud by performing an array of songs from Matilda to Moana; from Coldplay to gospel; from Phineas and Ferb to Korean folk song Arirang. Despite it being a very long day, all the children sang their hearts out with a smile on their faces and passion in their words.
The rest of the week saw some of our classes pop over to the library, where we had an introduction with Megan who gave us a tour, taught us all about how the library works and told us a few anecdotes about her relationship with books and reading.

Back at school, year 5 had an ‘egg-cellent’ time designing and building contraptions to try and prevent an egg from cracking when dropped from height. The parachutes and rotor-blade ideas were reasonably successful with over half of the eggs surviving.
In History, we also tried to recreate the ancient Maya sport of Pok-a-tok (without the ritual sacrifice of course) by keeping a ball in the air WITHOUT using our hands or feet.

Only two weeks to go until the half way point of the year and plenty to look forward to, including; curriculum enrichment day (Friday 9th February), national children’s mental health week, internet safety day (Tuesday 6th February) and the Chinese new year (Saturday 10th February).
