For our enrichment day in Year Six we further explored the history of the Ancient Greeks. For this, we first explored the geography of the nation, going on a virtual tour of the capital Athens to see the famous architecture which was build over two millennia ago! A favourite was the Parthenon, though we quickly realised our ancient Greek ancestors loved pillars. We then investigated the life and conquests of Alexander the Great, and how he led the Empire to great expansion (we figured that was what made him great after all!) and mapped out the locations he reigned over prior to his mysterious death. We made a shield in honour of his legacy. We followed these fact-finding lessons with more creative tasks. Firstly was a form of ‘Who Am I?’ which revolved around the Greek deities. This was followed by seeing some of the Greek mythical creatures, before we had the opportunity to make our own. Much fun was had across the course of the day; be sure to check out some of the creative costumes on our social media pages. Special shoutout to Pip the bear, whose costume was made at home by one of our Year Six pupils! Comments are closed.
