Music Blog
After the delightful Christmas songs that were shared on social media in December, classes have settled into following the Charanga music resource where we learn some notation, vocabulary and a song each week. From Bon Jovi’s classic, Living on a Prayer to the epic instrumental of Gustav Holstz’s Mars and Jupiter, from disco era’s Mamma Mia (By Abba) to hip hop TV theme tune Fresh Prince of Bel Air. We learn about the history of the song, how the genre is formed, the artists life and then how to play them either with untuned percussion instruments such as bongos or with tuned percussion such as xylophones and glockenspiels. We are also in the process of many rehearsals within year 3,4 and 5 (No spoilers just yet though), the school rock choir are working on a new set list and our participation in the Thurrock music festivals (ks1 and ks2) have both been confirmed for July.
