This half term we will be looking at people who help us and transport. We are looking at paramedics, doctors, dentists and vets, focussing on how they help people or animals in our community and what they need to help them. We will then look at the police force, the fire brigade and the coast guards. During this half term we will also look at space and aeroplanes.
We will be looking at the books ‘Mrs Armitage on Wheels’ by Quentin Blake, ‘The Hundred Decker Bus’ by Mike Smith and then just before Christmas we will read ‘Norman the slug who saved Christmas’ by Sue Hendra. As a class we will be discussing how we can express our feelings appropriately and considering the feelings of others.
In maths we will be looking at numbers 1-5 and representations of these numbers. We will then look at one more and one less than the given numbers. We will look at shapes and how we can sort them or use these to make pictures and positional language and whether toys are on top, below underneath or next to each other.
In PE we are focussing on movement and working together to move around in different ways, moving on to some gymnastic skills.

5JP – Atika & Jasson
Last half-term we did a Science experiment to filter muddy water, which had gross stuff in it like rotten apples and banana peels. I enjoyed filtering the water three times to see my end result. It turned out to be cleaner, but definitely not clean enough to drink! – Jasson
We were looking at Vikings and I did find it a bit interesting. I think it would have been difficult if the Vikings turned up in my village because you would not have enough money to live if they took it all. – Atika

5AB – Clemence & Frank
We were doing an English lesson where we had to give “bad” instructions to Mrs Betts. I told her what to do , but I wasn’t specific so she did the wrong thing. I thought it was really funny! Then, she asked Esmae, but to give “good” instructions,  and she  gave more concise instructions so Mrs Betts did the correct thing. The whole class clapped! I enjoyed that lesson a lot. – Clemence

When we onto our Chrome Books and had to search for a ”Padlet”. We were talking about different videos and what our favourites were. I like fast-paced action videos because it’s exciting when you watch them, this was what I put on my padlet. There was a heart symbol underneath your statement , so you could like their post. I got around fifteen hearts on mine. I would give this lesson ten out of ten. As an added bonus I saw Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson appear on the screen as I logged off!! - Frank

In Science, we have been learning about the floating and sinking. We discussed what the words float and sink mean. We looked at pictures of different objects and discussed whether the objects are floating or sinking. We learnt about the word ‘predict’ and we use this during experiments. We had lots of fun choosing objects round our classroom and predicting if it will float or sink. We finally carried out our experiment by carefully placing the object in the water to see if the object would float or sink.

We used the iPads this week to learn about how we can paint using computers. We enjoyed using the online app Paintz to create a self-portrait.

In History, we have been learning about old and new toys. We looked at different toys from the past, we wrote questions we can ask to learn more about the toys.
