Year 2 have had a brilliant first week back. We have been so busy working on our Grammar skills in English and strengthening our basic number skills in maths. We absolutely loved playing the mummy number bond game and many of us showed our competitive side during daily games of Bingo! In 2RM, we use a raffle ticket reward system, where each Friday one name is chosen from our lucky raffle ticket box. Everyone has worked incredibly well this week to collect their raffle tickets, thinking carefully about using good manners, being kind and considerate to one another, and working hard. During our Foundation lessons this week, we have been learning about how to develop a Growth Mindset, changing our thinking from ‘I can’t do this’ to ‘I can’t do this...yet!’
Coming back to school has been really fun! I felt really nervous at first, but these last few days have been really enjoyable. The work we have been doing seems nice and easy, but I know it will get harder throughout the year. It is quite scary to be in a new class with a new teacher, but I’m proud to be part of 6JM. So, overall coming back to school (in year 6) has been a terrifying, yet exciting, experience, and I know I will continue to enjoy it.
