Throughout our school, everyone is continuing to work hard in maths lessons using the White Rose Maths scheme of learning, which is rooted in research on the teaching for mastery approach, providing a comprehensive progression for pupils throughout their time in primary school.
Last week, Y6 sat their SATs exams, allowing them to show everyone how good they are at maths, putting to use everything they have learnt since they were in Reception and demonstrating how ready they all are for their move into secondary school. Y4 have been working really hard to prepare for the national Multiplication Tables Check (MTC), which this year takes place between Monday 3rd June and Friday 14th June. The MTC is an online check consisting of 25 times table questions. Every pupil will be able to answer 3 practice questions before taking the actual check. They then have 6 seconds to answer each question. On average, the check should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete. Summer term is here, and the PE schedule is jam packed with cricket, rounders, athletics and sports day!
Exciting News- sports day times and dates announced! Dates and times have been set for sports day as follows-
We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded with an Excellent travel plan. This accreditation lasts for one year. The travel plan is awarded based on schools active and sustainable travel. Over the past 3 years we have shown a reduction in red modes of travel (e.g. car) as well as being involved in many bike, scooting and walking events across the school. Borough Olympics trials have started to take place within our KS2 year groups. Once these trials are completed and a team has been set, letters detailing what event your child has been entered into will follow. Unfortunately, spectators are no longer allowed at any SSP events. We enjoyed PE this week and trying events for the Borough Olympics. Throwing was my best event. In History we looked at the Battle of the Somme, and found out about the horrifying deaths. We finished our English this week and our stories about Ben and his amputated leg, and he met a new friend.
