Welcome Back! I Cannot believe we are nearly halfway through our first half term already. The children have returned eager to learn we have been able to use whole school again now the RAAC has been sorted. For year 2 this has meant they have been able to get back into a classroom. It has been lovely to see how well the children have quickly settled into their new classes and daily routines. They have been amazing!
Each class should have been introduced to their new themes for this half term and the children seem eager to explore these more. I can’t wait to see to amazing work that will be produced. Year 2 have had a brilliant start to the year with their theme ‘Animals’. Their ball skills in P.E. have really impressed me, showing control with their hands and feet and have followed instructions carefully. We have also looked at place value in maths where the children have used Dienes, bead strings and cubes to make 2-digit numbers and partitioning them in various ways. In English we have been reading a story called ‘The Crows tale’, exploring powerful vocabulary and descriptive language. We have high expectations in year 2 and have set our standards high for the rest of the year. Comments are closed.
